Joovy Scooter X2 Double Stroller Review
If you’ve been searching for a double stroller for your new family that is easy to manoeuvre and has no problem fitting through standard doorways yet doesn’t sacrifice seating space then the Joovy Scooter X2 Double Stroller could be the ideal stroller for your needs.
Seeing the entry-level price tag on this stroller, you could be forgiven for thinking its sorely lacking in features. However, you’d be mistaken, with features such as one-hand folding, one touch breaks and large storage baskets; the Scooter X2 has more than enough to get families with two little ones from A to B without any inconvenience.
- 30″ wide – Fits through standard doors
- One-hand fold
- Reclining seats with adjustable footrests
- Large basket and canopy
- Two parent cup holders
- Two zippered pockets
Stroll without hassle
With its side by side design, the Joovy Scooter X2 still has only a 30″ width so you can stroll through standard doorways when you’re out and about without the hassle of folding it up to get through the door.
Joovy’s strollers are renowned for their good manoeuvrability and this stroller is no exception. With a weight of only 28.1 lbs, the X2 can glide and manoeuvre well across the city streets. The front swivel wheels can also be locked forward to give you that extra stability when riding over rougher terrain. The handle is nicely padded, which provides extra comfort especially when strolling for long periods.
Ample growing room is provided for your two little ones with the sizable seats which measure at 20″ in height and 13″ in width. The weight capacity of 45 lbs per seat, gives you a 90 lbs total weight capacity. A 5-point adjustable harness takes care of your child’s safety.
Independent recline allows you to recline each seat separately depending on the needs of each child. The seat recline is adjustable via a strap at the back of the seat and provides plenty of reclining positions up to a maximum of 149°. However, the seat can’t fully recline flat so the stroller is only suitable for children 3 months or older.
Brakes / Folding
We really like the linked brakes at the rear. Unlike many strollers which use separate brakes for each rear wheel, the Scooter X2 uses one long horizontal bar so you can brake quickly when necessary without any inconvenience.
Folding up the stroller is quick and easy thanks to the one-hand fold feature. One drawback to this is that you need to fully recline the seats backwards before folding the stroller so it’s a bit inconvenient when it comes to opening it up again.
The Scooter X2 really excels in the storage area. The two deep lower storage baskets have a large capacity so you can fit plenty of things from diapers bags to toys. There are also two small rear zippered pockets at the back and two mesh parent cup holders.
Extra Large Canopy
The large canopy is great and much bigger than we typically see on double strollers. It features a sun visor which can be removed to let the sunlight shine onto your children as they sit.
Pros and Cons
The Joovy Scooter X2 Double Stroller has a roomy seat size without being too wide, its light enough to transport at under 30lbs, the storage options are terrific. Smooth riding is assured due to the all wheel suspension. Additionally, its durable fabric is easy to clean.
The seats need to be reclined before folding up the stroller. This is a little inconvenient in our opinion and something hopefully which Joovy will address in their next model.
The handlebar isn’t adjustable, so very tall parents might find it a bit too short for them.
Joovy have a created a wonderful double stroller that is considerably cheaper than most on the market, without sacrificing important comfort and safety features. If you’re after an easy to manoeuvre double stroller which has a shed load of features then we recommend the Joovy Scooter X2 Double Stroller.
